Lindner Quality Socks

We Knit Many Styles of Socks From Workwear to Fashion

Thick Full Cushioned

Our Thick Full-Cushioned style of socks is by far our most popular. Our "Max" Thick Full Cushioned socks are the style affectionately known to local farmers and tradies as “concrete Thick Full Cushioned Hand Dyed Merino Wool Sockssocks”, as these cushioned socks allow workers to stand comfortably all day on cold, hard concrete without their feet getting sore, cold or tired.

Knitted on our Bentley Komet machines, these socks are constructed using two to four threads of wool or cotton yarn depending on the yarn thickness or ply, with one thread of nylon for reinforcement and stretch. The outside of the sock is a tidy plain knit, while on the inside the threads are pulled by terry jacks during knitting to form a loop between every stitch (like the surface of a towel) giving them a springy feel and extra air pockets for insulation.

Warm, soft, springy, thick socks like these are brilliant for so many uses.

As a work boot sock, you can’t beat this style for comfort and durability in summer or winter, especially in our Heritage range. If you’re a skier or a hiker and your boots have the room to fit them, Thick Full-Cushioned socks will keep you comfy all day and keep the blisters at bay. From personal experience, our sock maker Andrew Lindner once walked 14km cross-country, including several creek and river crossings, wearing traditional gumboots and a pair of these socks and by the end of the hike the socks were wet, but his feet were warm, felt dry, and had no sign of blisters.

Knee-High Thick Full-Cushioned

Constructed in the same way as our Thick Full-Cushioned socks, this Knee-High style extends up over the calf and up to just below the knee. This is how we stay warm in a Crookwell winter. These have long been popular with motorcyclists and skiers.

Medium Thickness Ribbed

This style has the same number of threads of wool or cotton and nylon as the Thick Full-Cushioned socks. The sole of this sock is a smooth plain stocking stitch knit inside and out, and the upper foot and leg is a one to one rib. Medium Thickness Ribbed socks are designed to allow a high proportion of natural fibre to synthetic without the bulk of the Thick Full-Cushioned style, meaning you can have some warmth and springiness inside tighter-fitting shoes. Many customers love our Hand-Dyed socks in this style for fun, cosy bed socks either for themselves or as a great gift.

Classic Fine Knit Socks

Our two German Esta machines knit our Fine Knit socks with one thread of wool or cotton and one nylon thread using fine gauge needles resulting in thin and comfortable socks to be worn with dress shoes and boots. The sole of the foot has an even, plain stocking stitch knit, with a fine one to one rib on the upper foot, leg and cuff.

Ankle Socks

Our soft merino ankle sock range is ideal all year round and perfect for sneakers. The ribbed knit of our Cotton Ankle Socks ensures good ventilation and keeps you comfortable and cool in summer. As with all of our socks, our a well-rounded heels ensure these socks will stay where they should on your foot, and by making the ankle cuff slightly higher than in other ankle sock styles we ensure that the back of your ankles won’t rub on your shoe as you exercise.

Loose Top Socks

Most of the styles we make, we offer a Loose Top version. With a combination of knitting techniques and yarn composition, we achieve some very good results. For example, socks stay in place, circulation is maintained and not constricted by bands of elastic and skin is better able to breath reducing sweaty cold feet.
